Well we had a really good time this week visiting two churches on the West of Scotland, Stranraer Baptist and Arran Baptist. We spoke at midweek meetings. We were speaking about Europe in general at Stranraer which was a test, I guess I get a bit focussed on Austria! But we enjoyed the evening, and learnt ourselves from doing the preparation. Lesley and Alastair Clark put us up in their really nice farmhouse.
We had quick run up the coast, stopping to get Rachel’s birthday present in Ayr, then headed over to Arran. If you’ve never been to Arran, you should be making plans to get there soon …
We were met off the boat by friends from Abbeyhill, Sandy and Myra and went for a meal with them and another couple David and Janice. David & Janice’s son is hoping to go to Vienna with World Harvest with a team headed up by Brad & Stacey Hunter. The Hunters blog was a fascinating read, especially their FAQ page, lots of their concerns were so similiar to ours .. The Arran meeting was small but that meant the questions really got to the nitty gritty of our hopes and plans.
The week before we were in Cowdenbeath for their Sunday evening service. We live about 15-20 mins away, but we forgot that there were roadworks on the Forth Bridge so it took nearly 1 hour and we had about 3 mins to set everything up. But the church welcomed us with good humour and we enjoyed talking about Linz, Austria and ECM and how we had seen God leading us into this work.
We move house in the week from 30th June to 6th July (we have a lot of stuff …!), so we’ve no more church meetings in the next two weeks. We’re speaking at Dedridge and Ladywell Baptist churches on 1st and 8th July.
