Linz in Focus

Step by Step

So last week Johnny went back to full time at Bethany.  He misses out on taking Rachel to Nursery on Wed mornings, but is feeling good about going to work more days!  We’ve been to two churches since the new year, both of whom were a great encouragement to us.  One of these churches was the first place we visited when we started deputation last January.  Going back to someone who knows us was good for us.

That said we’ve still got plenty work to do seeking out somewhere between 10 to 30 people, churches or groups who want to join our support team.  As things stand we have enough people behind us to sustain us full time in Linz for the first year, assuming we get some extra help with the one-off moving and setup costs.  Since most of that first year will be spent learning the language, establishing ourselves in the community in Linz, getting to know the church and them getting to know us, we want stay longer than that!! So we’re praying for enough new supporters to tip the scales towards sustaining us staying in Linz long term.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year …

So did you get 2008 in sparklers on your Facebook?  Thanks to all who sent us some.  They’re very pretty.  Just in case your not on facebook here’s a picture for you …

So we’re into the next phase of raising support.  We started January with a trip to Brechin Baptist.  The Pastor Jon Bergen and his family welcomed us to their home which is also the building they meet in.  It was great meeting with this church which is in a building that is very much a work in progress.  Everywhere you look you see evidence of vision and a desire that God would use this church for building his Kingdom in Brechin.  I’m finding quite often, I’m so curious about the stories of the churches we visit, I’m in danger of forgetting we went there to share our own story!

The Bergen’s really encouraged us to wait out the time needed to raise full support.  They are missionaries from the States to Scotland and they’ve seen the benefit of following this advice (against their own wishes!) when they were delayed in moving.  So we’re still seeking out opportunities to come and speak at churches, or with individuals who might want to join our support team.  If you know of any, or would like to learn more about our plans, please get in touch.
